In front of their huge supportive homecoming crowd, the Bellevue Broncos got dominated by Pittsford 50-15, leaving them completely crushed. With that awesome win the Wildcats bettered their record to 5-0.
The Big Blue varsity started off with one of their weakest first quarter defensively they had this year, letting Bellevue have the ball due to a fumble and letting them score first. The Wildcat offense got fired up and answered Bellevue with a touchdown run from junior quarterback Garet Lee. The Broncos received the kick, starting their next offensive series, but that did not last long thanks to senior linebacker Chase Weber, who intercepted the ball and took it all the way back for another Wildcat touchdown, which was followed by a two point conversion. With the score 14-8, the Broncos replied by scoring once more with an extra point kick to take the lead, 15-14. Too bad that was their last touchdown on the Wildcat defense. The ‘Cats offense exploded for 36 more points in the first half with the help of two tremendous passes, one completed to junior Seth Weber who caught it in the endzone and the other to junior Taylor Hatfield, who had a one-handed grab for some major yardage which led to a touchdown a few plays later. The halftime score was 50-15, and after little offensive play to speak of in the second half, that’s how the game ended.
Next week the Big Blue varsity goes up to Climax-Scotts looking to improve their record to 6-0 and to kick some serious Panther butt. The key to destroying Climax in the game is simple. “Run the ball down their throats,” Hatfield said mercilessly. To me this game is the biggest game of the year. Being on the football team as a captain I can say with certainty that we are going to bring some serious heat.
