Kings, queens, banners, pep rallies, and spirit games; homecoming, a joyous occasion for all, lived up to all expectations this year.
This year’s banner theme was “Decades.” The freshman class chose “The ‘50s,” sophomores picked “The ‘80s,” the juniors selected “The ‘70s,” and the seniors chose “The ‘60s.” The winners of the banners were the juniors, class of 2010. They used Star Wars to coincide with their 70’s theme. The banner was the brainchild of Leah Ward and Alex Reinbolt. The making of the banner was very time-consuming “It took a lot more time than we thought,” said Alex. Overall, Leah and Alex were very happy with its turn out, “It was very nice,” Leah said in her well-known “Borat” voice.
As always, we had dress up days to show our school spirit. Monday and Friday were the traditional “Pajama and Bad Hair Day” and “Blue, White, Hat, and Sunglasses
Day.” On Tuesday we had “College Day,” Wednesday was “Decades Day,” where every class dressed to correspond with the decade they chose, and Thursday was “Support Our Troops Day.”The homecoming court and candidates got all dressed up to walk down the field in homecoming tradition. The freshmen representing their class were Zak Schaedler and Bethany White. Representing the sophomore class were Nick Kik and Braily Lee. The junior class representatives were Luke Irwin and Jessica Fenton.
The 2008 homecoming queen was Franny Marino. Franny had many thoughts going around in her head when she was announced as queen, but the main one was “Yay, I won!” The other queen candidates were Holly Bastien and Jessica Plessinger. The Homecoming king was Jacob Johns “I got nervous when they started walking around, and then when they said my name and everybody started screaming, I was just like, ‘Right on’,” said Jacob. The other king candidates were Corey Gamble and Jeff Page.
